Meaghan Anderson, PT DPT
Founder
Dr. Meaghan Anderson is a doctor of physical therapy and owner of the private practice, Rising Tides Restorative Training LLC, which is designed specifically for virtual Long COVID rehabilitation.
Having completed both her BS in rehabilitation science and DPT at Northeastern University in 2012 and 2013, Meg’s time at Northeastern is best known for having revamped the Northeastern PT Club as president, earning her place as one of the 2012 Huntington 100 recipients, and receiving the honor of most innovative research in the health sciences at the 2012 Northeastern RISE Expo.
Her PT career began in a level 1 trauma center working in acute rehabilitation and eventually led to her being amongst the very first practitioners in 2020 to rehab patients with COVID-19 within the hospital and rehab setting. During this time, she volunteered to lead a team of rehab professionals in creating the guidelines for treating patients with COVID-19 when there was no standard protocol. Having spent hours, days, and months in isolation working with people severely ill with covid, she saw first-hand the devastating effects that covid has on the mind, body and soul.
She quickly realized that this group of people was being left behind and this fueled her mission to launch her private practice in 2021. Her persistent curiosity and growing dedication to Long COVID treatment has led her to develop algorithms and frameworks for the identification and management of Long COVID in the rehab setting. She has been presenting her work on Long COVID to local, state and regional APTA conferences and universities since early 2022 to further advance the education in this emerging condition.
As of recently, she was selected as 1 of the 8 physical therapists to represent the APTA at the 2024 U.S.Healthcare Leadership Summit on Long COVID Rehabilitation. Dr. Meg Anderson is a humble and determined Covid Rehabilitation Specialist who believes that in a world where Long COVID doesn’t have a clear cut cure and is often dismissed, it is her calling to teach the public that the physical therapy profession has a breadth of knowledge to handle this emerging condition, while also providing PTs/PTAs with the skills to deliver.
Long COVID might be new, but there is so much you can do for your patient
From March of 2020, I have been studying and working directly with acute COVID and Long COVID cases. I've simplified my years of knowledge and experience into an introductory course for you. Your patients deserve the best care possible and this is your opportunity to start learning how to help them.
What others are saying about my teachings
“Dr. Meaghan's lecture on the multitude of presentations that Long COVID can take was eye opening to me as a therapist. I considered her lecture so valuable and packed with info that I watched her presentation twice! I now realize that we need to be more open-minded and informed about the various ways Long COVID can present in our patients.”
“A doctoral PT student referred me to you. I saw her for help with increasing my energy and strength... She indicated that she integrated a lot of your approach from a seminar she took with you about Long COVID. I found it very helpful. Unfortunately, she moved onto her next clinical and the PT I am with now is not knowledgeable about the complexity of chronic fatigue and pain, and I have been “relapsing” with crashes. Hoping to find a good fit again. Are you open to working with me?”
